Serena Goel

Serena Goel, MSW, RSW

Serena received her Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto. She trained and worked at the Child Development Institute in Toronto. In her role, she supported children and their families to develop emotional regulation, self-control and problem solving skills through cognitive behavioural-informed groups and individual counselling. Serena also worked at The Darling Home for Kids with families of children with complex medical needs. She developed and implemented services to help families cope through major life transitions, challenging family dynamics, caregiver burnout, chronic illness, grief, and other areas of difficulty.

Serena brings an empathetic lens to therapy and prioritizes building a strong foundation of trust with children and families. With a collaborative approach, she encourages clients to identify goals that are important to them, and pulls from different therapeutic modalities to suit individual needs. She loves working with children of all ages and uses a range of tools including CBT, play, mindfulness, and self-compassion in her practice to help clients feel safe and comfortable.

As a lifelong learner, Serena values continued professional development in evidence-based approaches and continues to sharpen her skills by engaging in training in cognitive behaviour therapy, emotion focused family therapy and motivational interviewing.
