BSc | MSc (Candidate)

Olesya is a warm and enthusiastic therapist with a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach. She appreciates the uniqueness of each client and works collaboratively to develop an individualized therapy plan that fits the needs and wishes of each person. Beginning therapy can be a challenging step and she is prepared to help guide new clients along this curious, enlightening journey. She works hard to uncover all parts of an individual's identity, as she believes all are important and should be integrated into therapy. Coming from an immigrant background, Olesya understands the various social and cultural factors that may contribute to a person’s wellness or mental health.

Olesya is completing her Master of Science in Psychotherapy at McMaster University, where she also completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour. Olesya has experience at the Anxiety Treatment and Research Clinic at St. Joseph's Healthcare in Hamilton, allowing her to gain knowledge and experience applying the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model to various mental health presentations, such as panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and other anxiety disorders. She enjoys working with younger populations and gained years of experience as an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Assistant.

Olesya enjoys working with youth, students, and adults experiencing various mental health difficulties, including anxiety, panic, low mood, self-esteem, interpersonal difficulties, and other stressors.

Continued Professional Development

Olesya uses her educational and practical training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to inform her practice. She also pulls on skills from different modalities, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to enhance the therapeutic process. To further her skills, Olesya continues to take professional development courses, read relevant research and literature, and attend psychological conferences.

Olesya can usually be found trying new food spots around Hamilton, enjoying a nostalgic TV show at home, or stitching.
