Glen Watkinson
MDIV | RP
(HE/HIM)
Glen believes that vitality and the chance to flourish happens when it’s safe enough to honestly be oneself. He considers it a privilege to accompany people through their pain, coping, self-discovery, healing, transformation, and joy.
Glen holds a Masters of Divinity in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University in Toronto, Ontario. He also holds an Honours Bachelor of Music with a minor in Religious Studies from McMaster University. For the last 14 years, Glen has served in Hamilton's community and social services field, working alongside people living through trauma, substance use and addictions, poverty, mental health dual-diagnoses, developmental disabilities, and criminality.
Glen's areas of care include trauma, abuse, violence, PTSD and C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, dissociation, substance use and addictions, shame, anger, grief, relationships, sexual and gender identity, and spiritual abuse, deconstruction, and integration. He seeks to embody a clinical stance that is compassionate, curious, anti-oppressive, and non-pathological. His approach uses an attachment-based, trauma-informed framework, which means his work is often experiential, and emotionally and relationally focused. He is trained in the integration of evidence-based models including AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy. He works with individuals and couples.
After hours, Glen enjoys time spent with his family, making music, cooking, playing sports, a good cup of tea, writing, and celebrating with friends.
