Annelise Kohler

RN | BSCN | CPMHN(C)
(SHE/HER)

Annelise is a Registered Nurse, certified in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing through the Canadian Nurses Association. Her work and training history have been mainly in the assessment and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. She has experience working with clients with complex mental health concerns and believes in cultivating an accepting, encouraging, and safe therapeutic environment.

Annelise has a special interest in working with neurodivergent clients and uses a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach to therapy. With ADHD herself, Annelise can understand how challenging it can be to live in a world not built for you.

Annelise can help in the following areas: low or fluctuating mood; anxiety; general stress; organization, motivation, and prioritization; burnout; perfectionism; exploration of identity; emotion regulation; interpersonal stress and/or conflict; and trauma.

Annelise completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Psychotherapy at McMaster University, with additional training through McMaster’s Clinical Behavioral Sciences program. Though Annelise primarily uses a modified CBT approach to counselling, she draws from other modalities such as DBT skills, and IPT to help support her clients.

When Annelise is not working, you can find her playing with her two dogs Ducky and Woodrow, making art, and hiking.
