EVIDENCE-BASED COUNSELLING
In-person and virtual counselling for youth, adults, couples, and families
Evidence-Based Counselling
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) refers to treatment that has been extensively researched and proven to be effective. While we focus our work in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), we also utilize other evidenced approaches depending on the presenting concern. It is important to us that we engage in therapeutic modalities that are safe and effective in order to maximize the chances of positive therapy outcomes. Therapists at VCC are rigorously selected and are committed to staying up-to-date on gold standard practices by reading current research and literature, engaging in lifelong training, and participating in ongoing individual and group consultation within and outside of the practice.
We are committed to creating a comfortable and nonjudgmental space where individuals can feel at ease exploring their lives and experiences with skilled clinicians. While we can offer you insight, support, and evidence-based tools, you remain in control of the therapeutic process from start to finish. VCC also has a fitness guarantee: we support clients until they find the best fit of therapist for their personality and goals, within or outside of our clinic.

Fitness Guarantee
Finding the right therapist can be challenging and this is why VCC stands by its goodness-of-fit guarantee. If for any reason you aren’t clicking well with the therapist we have matched you with, we will help connect you to a more suitable therapist - within or outside of our clinic.

Our Values
We are proud allies of the LGBTQ community. We work to stay informed on current LGBTQ issues, news, and events. We support equality by fighting for policies that protect LGBTQ individuals from discrimination. We are active in the fight against homophobia and transphobia, and we advocate for equal treatment for all people, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
We support and endorse the Black Lives Matter movement and recognize the injustices and violence associated with anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism. We stand in solidarity with our BIPOC community.
“Allyship is an active, consistent, and arduous practice of unlearning and re-evaluating, in which a person of privilege seeks to operate in solidarity with a marginalized group of people. Allyship is not an identity - it is a lifelong process of building relationships based on trust, consistence, and accountability with marginalized individuals or groups.”
